Resetting Shot Clock Time to 20 seconds for NCAA Rebound Rule Compliance – June 27, 2019

Resetting Shot Clock Time to 20 seconds for NCAA Rebound Rule Compliance for MP controller Firmware 2.26 and later.

The shot clocks can be set to a second pre-programmed time (20 seconds) using the following procedure:

1. On initial setup (holding the “Enter” key on powering up controller) and after selecting “Basketball” continue with configuring the basketball settings.
2. Use the Shift/5 buttons to cycle through the questions without changing the current values.
3. At question “Timer Set #1” answer 30 for the men’s/women’s game.
4. At question “Timer Set #2” answer 30 for the men’s/women’s game.
5. At question “Timer Set #3” answer 20 for the NCAA rebound rule
6. Complete the configuration of basketball MP settings and save a preset.
7. During play the HS70 handswitch will follow this described behavior:

* • Time 1 and Time 2 can be toggled by double clicking top left key button labeled “Set Timer”.
* • Time 1 stays on Time 1 on single click of reset button.
* • Time 1 switches to Time 3 on double click of reset button (when shot time stopped).
* • Time 3 switches to Time 1 on single click of reset button.
* • Time 2 stays on Time 2 on single click of reset button.
* • Time 2 switches to Time 3 on double click of reset button (when shot time stopped).
* • Time 3 switches to Time 2 on single click of reset button.

To determine your firmware level, power up the controller and the firmware level will briefly show on the LCD display.

Controllers with Firmware between versions 2.00 and 2.26 can have their firmware upgraded for a $125 charge. An RMA should be acquired by calling the Fairplay Helpdesk at 800-462-2716.

For Firmware before version 2.00 a replacement MP80 controller and associated transceivers would be required. These can be purchased through your local Fairplay dealer. For customers who require a dedicated second reset button on the handswitch a replacement MP80 controller and potential transceivers would be required (Transceivers not required if school has an MP73) purchased through your local Fairplay dealer.
